Behavioral Wellness Center

Adventist Health Vallejo has a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, social workers, and therapists that can provide care for every personality. The admissions process involves a thorough psychosocial assessment and a review of the client’s physical and psychological background.

The following group therapy options are available:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy process group
  • Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) group
  • Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), including mindfulness group
  • Skills presentation group
  • Skills practice group therapy options

Inpatient Psychiatric Services

These services are designed to treat adolescents experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression or mania or may be otherwise experiencing altered thought processes.

Therapies and techniques included in the services are as following:

  • Individual, group and family therapy
  • Symptom management and coping skills development
  • Activity and occupational therapy
  • Stress management and relaxation techniques
  • Medications and medical stabilization

Activities included in the services are as following:

  • Group therapy sessions focused on mental health issues
  • Age-appropriate group games and activities
  • Educational groups focused on ways of coping with problems that contributed to hospitalization
  • Groups focused on the development of social and communication skills
  • Education and group therapy focused on chemical dependency and addictive behaviors
  • Education classes taught by a trained special education teacher
  • Art, movement and play therapy sessions
  • Family group and therapy sessions offering information and support

Once discharged, the person will receive an individualized aftercare plan.

Children Services

If a child aged 3-18 or a developmentally delayed person aged 19-21 is in need of a hospital stay, they may stay in one of the 61 beds of the behavioral health hospital. They will receive the services listed above for inpatient psychiatric care.

Adolescent Services

Adolescents aged 13-18 will receive personalized treatment plans and the services listed above for inpatient psychiatric care.

Senior Services

Seniors aged 55 and older can receive treatment for life transitions such as losing a loved one, a change in health status, or a loss of independence or identity. The program can also benefit seniors  with long-term psychiatric disorders.

The following services are offered for seniors in addition to the standard inpatient psychiatric care services:

  • Evaluation, medication monitoring and treatment oversight by a psychiatrist
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy, including individual and group sessions
  • Family counseling, to help caregivers manage the emotional challenges of caring for a loved one
  • Stress management and relaxation techniques
  • 24-hour behavioral health monitoring and supervision
  • Behavioral health diagnostic assessment and evaluation
  • Medication stabilization and management
  • Individual and group therapy
  • Recreational therapy
  • Individual and group patient and family education
  • Discharge and aftercare planning
